Is it easy to remove and reinstall the seat?

What about using bungie cords to secure the changer unit to the underside of the seat?

Question

Further to my 'big thanks' thread I have one question.

I've got the CDC655z changer located under the passendger seat in the WRX Wagon. The only problem is that it's just sitting on the car mat at the moment, it's not fixed down, thus it tends to move quite a bit under heavy acceleration/braking.

I've got the fixing kit for it but I'm not sure how well it would stick to the carpet of the car. Any ideas on how to secure the changer to the underside of the passenger seat? Or any other ideas for positioning the changer. I can't have it in the boot as the dog will eat it!

Easy, but you need to remove seat.

Put a sheet of mdf under carpet and self tap through bracket, carpet and mdf.

It wont go anywhere, I promise.

Markus,

If you looking for a quick and easy way to secure your multi-changer to the floor why not use velcro? Sounds a bit wierd, but if you just want to stop it sliding about and don't mind that fact that it can be removed easily then 4 - 6 sticky velcro patches does the trick. (Obviously, Adam's method is much more secure)

I believe that the best place to fit the changer is under the front seat. This positions it close to the centre of the car thus exerting less centrifugal force under hard cornering and such (might not be centrifugal but less forces anyway.
As stated by others, industrial strength Velcro will do the job.

Hi dont know how easy this is on a scoob but one of the best places to fit an autochanger is in the glovebox if box is a little to small u could use a hair dryer (no im not joking )to resize it a little. This is good because you wont listen to same discs over and over again as it easy to get to unlike boot or under seats.

Markus,

not too sure about industrial strength stuff - but I used pretty std stuff (selotape/blu-tac/3m etc). I think you can get it from good stationary shops such WH Smiths, although if not, try somewhere like Maplins or RS.

I could be wrong..... but I thought there was some kind of vent under the passenger seat.

Be careful out there!

James:
Yup, I noticed the vents. The SIDC FAQ said that dealers did not like fitting the changers under the seats because they would obscure these vents.

Thumbs up

Just got my autochanger fitted - dealer recommended under the passenger seat, but thinking about the vents, I opted for boot mounting. Slung just forward of the parcel shelf - to the cross member there - most excellent.

Vents are on the floor, so if changer mounted on underside of seat, it shouldn`t be a problem with heat. Vents discharge at the rear of the changer if changer mounted as close to front of seat as possible.

Says he using 10 disc Kenwood changer under seat.

How about stitching it to the carpet, with one of those curved uppolstering needles.
