DVD - Video in Scooby MY98
Hi Guys and Gals
I'm a 50 year old passed midlife crisis so my psyciatrist says!!
My car speakers in the Scooby are really bad and need replacing. This got me thinking of the whole gambit of ICE systems.
My son has been bugging me for ages to put in a subwoofer and NOS - whatever that is!!!
I've seen some very nice looking video screens fitted in the head restraints playing DVDs etc. Is this possible in the Scooby? I presently have recliners in the front of my Scooby with fixed headrestraints. There is no manufacturers details and I don't know whether they are standard Subaru fittings. The only markings are a white tab fixed to the rear of each headrestraint with the following - E13 25R-035001 NHK-FC01 That's it!!
I would ideally like to be able to play DVD films and music videos, DVD-RW with MP3 music (homebrew ones)the ability to play CD-RW with mp3 and of course all the usual radio functions.
Anyone got any suggestions or advice?
TIA
John

John,
Anything's possible
You can get LCD screens fitted in the back of your seats, yes. It'll take a fair bit of work as, to my knowledge, there's no standard "kit". I could be wrong on that.
Screens normally have a mounting kit that's generic and will need work to fit into your seats. This is the same with any car, though when fitting in a headrest it's less to worry about as it's cheaper if you get it wrong!
I'm off to the donny show tomorrow, and if I see anything I'll take pictures and ask the owner a bit more...

Hi john,
I'm going this route as well - ice that is, not the nitrous route! To keep from getting into tearing apart seats, the set up i'm looking at is dvd tv head unit up front, either the clarion 928 or one of the new alpine models coming out soon, with a flip down monitor in place of the interior light - the aline one is motorised, and can swivel as well for optimum viewing. This is all quite pricey stuff, and i'm looking to keep the dvd player integrated in the head unit as opposed to a changer. hane a look at the alpine and clarion websites, and check out cel direct for good prices on this stuff.
cheers

John,
Pics from the Alpine stand:
The back-

The front - with hole filled in quite nicely

Not exactly stealth, is it??? I'd make a flap of material to go over this when not in use...
Cheers,
Nick.
