Question

I will be getting my MY00 from Holland in June/July, I am assuming that the stereo is the same as the UK version.

Therefore, is it worth getting the Philips CD multichanger and upgrading the speakers or should I rip the whole lot out and start again?

Does any one know the model number of the Philips autochanger and how much it costs?

David,

If it is the same as the UK models I'd dump it.

I just changed the head unit for a Nakamichi single CD and the difference in sound with just the standard speakers was unreal.

I'd change the head unit. My WRX Wagon came with a sort of nice Subaru badged Kenwood unit but I'm a Clarion man (for my sins) so I'm just about to get a nice ARX8670RZ head unit and CDC655TZ cd changer.

I'd suggest you take a look at this URL as they are quite cool

Depends on the dealer. Gertjan van der Velde was putting Sony in-dash CD players in for a while. Perhaps that's what you'll get - it's a fairly good unit.

Phone your dealer and check? If it's the Subaru stuff, rip it out and start again. If it's the sony in-dash, I'd get the changer for that if you don't want to spend a lot of money...

Nick.

Cool

Just replaced my standard headunit with a Pioneer CD tuner and the difference is amazing even with standard speakers.

Thanks for the comments.

I reckon I'll dump the head unit and put in a good CD with multichanger controls.

I'll upgrade the rest as and when required although I will probably get the tweeters sorted out at the same time as the head unit.

I can't live without my CD's

I had an MY98 with the philips 6 CD changer and the quality was crap on taking advice, I replaced the lot with an Alpine CD changer unit with the standard speakers and the difference was amazing. Basically the speakers are alright, get yourself a decent head unit.
