Have just bought Sony CDX-M630 headunit with Mac Audio Absolute 1.13 front speakers and it sounds beautiful. However, it's somewhat lacking in bass punch.
I don't want to weigh the car down too much, so I'm looking for fairly light weight stuff, and I don't want earther shattering bass, so only single box with a 10" or 12" in the boot.
I've never gone down the sub / amp route before so, bear in mind i'm after light weight and quality sound, not 1000's of watts and great big overpowering booms, any good suggestions. I'd also want the amp to control the front speakers, rather than use the head unit.
Buget wise anything up to £1000 would be my absolute limit. But would rather be nearer £500!
Finally (sorry) where can I get a cable to connect an MP3 player (line out is 3.5mm jack) to the head unit. And what connection will be on the back of the unit? DIN, or RCA? Or shall I just look

I don't have a CD changer - I'm gonna use the AUX input for my MP3 player.
I had a 10 disc Sony unit in my old car. Any Sony unit will work with this head unit, AFAIK. Don't know about how they talk with other makes.
I still have mine lying around if you're interested for a few pounds, but it's minus any cables, so you'd need to buy them separately...

MrBDM...
just checked it out... my old CD changer is a CDX-444RF, which you can still buy new from Sony.
Sony do a CDX-T70MX, which is from the same XPLod range as our head unit. But this is only 6 discs. They also do an xplod MD changer!

Mr dbt, i'm over in essex on saturday, and i have my Phoenix Gold 4 channel for sale, still in thge car and powering the fronts and sub. I'll be over at genesis in southend, so if you want to have a look at the amp or my setup (the amp does control the xover, input, bass... on both the sub and fronts) then give me a shout on 07776 153 711 and i'll drop by.

si.t - thanks for the offer, but I don't have the cash at the mo'.
Plus, I've only just seen you're note. I was in Newcastle with friends over the weekend...
cheers anyway.
