front speakers for sti v

Chaps,
in your expert opinion, what are the best front speakers for an STI V that directly replace the existing ones without any messing around?
Budget of about £150.
Thanks,
Dave

I am not familiar with the STi V since my intereior is a MY96 WRX. I assume it will like mine have a 5.25 inch driver space, no space for a tweeter and very limited mounting depth.
If this is the case then you are v limited.
It is difficult to get a powerful magnet wit such limited dimensions. If you can find any woofer with a neodymium magnet (these are normally reserved for tweeters) then the speakers will be have great potential given their limited depth. I believe, though am not certain, that the kenwood lightweight range as used in th Mclaren F1 use this technology. They are not rediculously expensive.
My advice would be, find one that fits and spend as much as you can. Always ask for a discount especially on major brands. Pioneer, kenwood alpine, sony (never buy sony speakers) is enormous.

As regards 'best' speakers it depends what you listen to etc.
but personally i have found the following makes to supply the best speakers :-
rockford fosgate, jl audio or mb quartz.
Can't go wrong with any of them really.

Just as an aside..had a look at some JL Audio's..the VR and the XR's.
They are not very deep so I think from a fitment point of view would make an excellent choice.
The VR-600cs were going for 280, the XR about £380 if i remember. (was from the ice shop just up the road from PE)

These are all great if you are made of money. I agree if you can stretch then do it.
Always try to listen, advice is great but it is v subjective.
JL audio are great if you like punchy dance, MB quart are v musical.
Your choice.
