Apeaker Spacers on bugeye
#1
I am thinking of replacing my front speakers on an 01 WRX, but reading all the faqs people are saying that I need 12mm spacers. This is great, but can anyone tell me if this sticks out when you put the door panel back on, or if there is any modification to the door panel needed ?
Cheers,
Olly.

No adding the spacer to allow speakers such as the Infinity 605's or JBL's to fit in the place left by the orig factory speakers does not require the door skin to be modified at all. It just allows the greater depth of the above speaker to clear the window as it comes down !
The door panel will fit as normal, wont be able to see any differance !

Agreed when replacing speakers on previous scoob I am sure that the window was destroying the rear of the speaker - ended up breaking the window completely - cost was >200/300 for leccy window bits and pieces.
Have had JBL's fitted on the UK300 MY01 I own (2 in front (not in rear doors but cut into parcel shelf)
Is it me of does the window motor feel stronger on the newer models (previous one was R reg from new) so hopefully won't have the same prob.
Had sound system professionally fitted though - they did use mdf housing for better sound apparently.
Total cost £500 for clarion 4x50w power and 4xJBL speakers sounds mint and in the dark the colours match the car blue/red what more do you want !!
