Hi,

I've had some Pioneer 120W dome tweeters lying round from my Mk3 Escort days and thought I'd fit them to the Scoob.

Just can't remember what value caps were wired in series when they were installed in the old car. 10uF rings a bell.

Anyone know?

Cheers

Rich

C = 1,000,000 / (6.283 x Impedance x Crossover Frequency)

So F=1,000,000/6.283CI = about 4K x-over point if you use 10uF caps. Maplins sell polyesther ones that are supposed to be audiophile grade...

http://www.mhsoft.nl/spk_calc.asp#crossover gives a calculator that you can put your values in to work out capacitor sizes. Just googled for it, so not had a chance to verify it's accuracy.

Looks like 10uF works for a cut off frequency of 4kHz. I would say that 10uF is about right, but it does depend on the impedence and frequency response of the speaker.
