What to get for me new mota

Definitely recommend Alpine, a decent set of component speakers front and rear and if funds allow, maybe a 4 channel amp. Don't think you'll get Sat Nav for your budget unless you buy used.

Right you tech heads.
I wanna sound system thats as good at least as my M3 was. That was Harmon Kardon.
I want a decent bit of base but not a boot full of boxes. I also fancy a NAV system of some kind. What are the ones that say Pioneer do that come up on the actual head unit as basic instructions. Think you have to put the cd in first???
I want to go to a place that can do the lot I am VERY fussy.
Who do you guys recommend in Beds/Cambs. Its an STI7.
Budget upto £1500.
If any of you could recommend a system then please list it and maybe I could have a listen if any of you are at Bedford on the 30th.
Tara.

Wotcha mate.
I'd go for the focal front speakers (130 quid), plus a decent head unit and cd-changer (budget 700 quid) or in-dash screen if you want to be flash (reckon on a grand for a good unit). Add an amp, at say 200 quid, maybe a sub in a box (150) and fitting (300) and you should meet your budget and be well pleased with the results. Plus if someone fits it, if you're not happy you've got someone to shout at
Cheers,
Nick.

Fitted an Alpine Headunit (MP3 compatible), 6 autochanger and 6 Focal speakers and 2 tweeters yesterday, £1k fitted for cash. Massive improvments, I had never really been into stereo systems but could get the bug for this!!
Cheers

I have an amp for the sub woofers, forgot that. But the headunit powers the front and back speakers.
Don't really understand all this technical stuff, not my forte, amp isn't that big though.

For your budget, I'd recommend an amp, yes. Whilst amps in head units are getting more powerful, there's only so much you can cram into that physical space. Plus they generate heat...
