clarion cd player sounds like radio interference on braking/acceleration but only intermittently, subaru dealer never seen this before had a chat to autoelectrician ?due to cd+brake lines in same wiring harness -therefore relay cd cable elsewhere
anyone else got any clues???

What make's your changer? Most CD changers use some form of balanced signal to the head unit, I believe...

I can't see brake lines causing interferance as they carry fluids. They wouldn't induce noise, IMHO...

I would say it could be noise suppression on the engine, or noisy HT leads, but that sounds really unlikely and I've never heard of it before on the Impreza.

What changer is it, and where's the cable routed? What head unit is it too?

Cheers,

Nick.

it is a clarion 6 stack cd player with the stack in the boot, subaru accessory
the wiring harness runs along the right side of the car alongside the brake lines
would it be solved by putting stack in glovebox/under seat?
thanks

That noise is like the one on the 206 WRC on board camera? It's the antenna faulty ground conection, inducing engine noise through ground.
I would also reccomend using a custom built or HiFi wiring for your audio accesories, it's not a waste of money.
I built my own using Gotham Multipair cables, and Neutrik Conectors

More info here:

www.neutrik.com

PS: Probably in england they have tons of other good brands...Down here there are really few options

If it's doing it on tape and radio, it's nothing to do with the cd changer so let's eliminate that.

Brake fluid must just be a coincidence. Perhaps the wiring in the engine bay has been disturbed, or something moved around the back of the unit.

Check the wiring carefully, then start looking at a noise suppressor for the power line.

Ah, there's a technical explanation for this.

It's ****ed.

More usefully, it may be that the connector at the back has fallen out, or that your speakers are earthing which is damaging your head unit...

first point of call would be to remove the unit, have a look at the back and see if anything's fallen out. While you're there, check impedance of the speakers at the ISO connector. Beyond that, maybe an auto electrician or ice specialist...

Unhappy

took it to halfords in carlisle, very helpful said interference noise due to r rear speaker is blown,?knocked as there is a loose bit
took the head unit out-worked fine on their circuit, put it back in the car power on no volume all connections tight told him of recent service and change of brake fluid-thinks wiring harness has been cut or corroded by brake fluid ?how likely and that i should get it repaired by subaru under warranty, anyone got any ideas?
thanks
