Has anybody seen or heard this unit yet!! DAB built in and can play MP3. What is the MP3 track selection speed is it up there with the Alpine units or down with the rest of the other slow units on the market.

Is DAB as good as the literature quotes, or is it hype need some answers as tempted by either an Alpine MP3 unit but the Blaupunkt woodstock.

Your input would be appreciated.

cheers.

Had my Woodstock installed for a month or so.

I like DAB as it lets me listen to london stations throughout the UK (e.g. XFM), also Radio5 is stereo
Also, DAB scrolling news/weather/traffic/sportheadlines is handy.

Sound quality is noticably better.

Extra aerial was no problem to install (even for a muppet like me).
- You might want to get one of these combined ones that does FM+DAB.

MP3 playback is excellent - no need for a boot-changer.

Unit will also store your favourite tracks on CDs which is a useful feature.

Edited to say that changing MP3 directories is a little slow, but have nothing to compare it with as have not had another MP3 unit before.
AND I'm told unit is more prone to jumping when playing CDs than other units.

I guess the bottom line is that for convenience this unit is currently unbeatable. You might say that its a jack of all trades, but is it a master of any?? Not sure.

Agree with fubar - I've had mine in for a month or so. The sound quality is excellent, the unit is easy to use and fit (although I didn;t get my aerial in the ideal position). I have an issue with reception on the BBC ensamble, but thats nothing to do with the unit. For the money I think it is a no brainer if you want DAB and MP3. Very pleased with it. Oh, I can think of something negative - - the case for the head unit front is rubbish and the front panel rattles about in it, just needs a bit of foam adding.

Apart from that I think it's great.

I agree with everything said so far. Had mine since they came out, I have the combined dab/fm aerial. reception is great its just a shame that getting hold of some of the parts needed for the aerial took ages.
DAB is now spreading like wildfire across europe. Going to the nurbugring for example, apart from the french section where dab is non existant you can get dab belgian and german stations more or less all the way there.

Lofi,
Halfords have a radio front panel carrier that is a great replacement for the blue plastic thing. (I rarely buy from Halfords, but this item is a winner).
It's leatherette :-) BUT is padded. Much better item than the standard issue.
ALSO, I completely agree with BBC ensemble reception. Radio 5 continually drops out.
However - I usually listen to XFM so not overly bothered except for when it comes to footy matches :-(

thanks fubar - may drop into Halfords. Funny about BBC ensamble seeing as they helped set the DAB standard and push it more than most, yet their mobile reception is the worst. Listen to Virgin mainly so no bothered much
