Front Speakers
I'm sure someone could suggest somewhere
I used about a square foot behind the speaker, and a few bits on other parts of the door as I felt. No hard and fast rules, I believe.
If anyone has any advice, chuck it in, and I'll put it in the FAQ

I went completely mad with the dynamat. Dynamat extreme on all flat surfaces on the inner door (i.e. the bit you mount the speakers in). Three big bits of dynamat on the inside of the outer door skin - this removed the "ringiness", tightened and added wieght to bass, and even improved the door shut sound. I then put some bits of normal dynamat on the back of the door card, which removed a certain artificial "boxiness" from the sound too. Within reason, the more the better.

Can't argue with the diminshing returns. However, I was very pleasantly surprised that adding some to the door card made a very noticeable improvement even after matting the whole doors:- enough that a regular passenger got into the car, and after 5 seconds said "wow that sounds better - what have you done?".
Can't argue that it is cheaper start off by sucking the actress or the bishop, and graduate to both later!
