Hi there, got a 00MY 5Dr with Panasonic head and CD and front JBL GTO mid/tweeter combo....

Its OK but....I`m thinking about getting an amp and upgrade rear speakers for the time being....new set of front component next.

Recommend an amp?
Recommend rear speakers?

Is it worth doing the power lines and speaker cables?

Recommend speaker leads?

Cheers!

Power to the head unit - leave alone

Power to the amp? Yes! Needs to be fused and come from the battery. Speaker cable - yes!

See the faq for an intro and the steps to take

Amp cable!!!!! Surely I can run a bit of old bell wire upto the interior light? (!!)

Was questioning the speaker cable and head power...I assume giving the head unit a good earth as well would be good?

Cheers!

If your running an amp you will need to contected to the battery (fused of course).

Any 'O2 free' wire will do (makes little difference unless competition installs)

If you do connect an amp run the power and speaker cables down oppositte sides of the car, as interferance can be a pain between the two.

Leave the headunit alone, power wont be increased and you dont want to risk damage. a Decent amp and wiring kit shouldn't set you back to much.

Idea- Get a four channel amp and run your front components off it too. Will make a big difference and pos. wont need to upgrade then

Hope that helps
