Question

Question re STi5 Type RA. My dash has what looks like a double din hole... A blanking plate above and tray below.
What stereo’s will fit?? Do I need a double din unit?? or will any modern unit fit.

I’m asking this because the hole (width wise) looks smaller than a standard din unit.

Thanks

Adamb

Hi there,
Any unit will fit in the hole that is present. The hole is narrower than a Single Din, but you only have to remove the surround which is supplied with your Single Din unit, in order to make it fit. You will also need a wiring harness converter, which is available via Halfords, made by Autoleads, to convert to ISO blocks.
Alternatively I have an as new Sony Double-Din unit which will fit straight in to the gap, Radio/CD/Tape with CD/MD changer control - Sony C-570. E-mail me direct if interested.

You need to look at a unit where the front surround can be removed as well, so the unit sits flush. Kenwoods fit in well - you just need a pouch for underneath.

Adam,

I've got an TypeR (STI-V) as well and people tell me that trying to get subs in it are a waste of time ie no decent sub fits on the rear parcel shelf and putting it in the boot you would hardly hear anything anyway because of the fixed rear seats in the TypeR.
Have you gone for any subs or has anyone else got any suggestions???
Thanks,

Dave

Are Kenwood still doing their "professional fitting for 1p" promotion ?

This could save you any hassle....

Thanks

Gavin
