Alpine - Poor Customer Service
#1
Is it usual for Alpine to provide such a crap quality of customer service?
I had a faulty sub that was only a couple of months old and Alpine weren't interested. The woman rudely told me to take it to the supplying dealer. I am now battling with them to get a replacement as they say there is a shortage of 1000W 12s.
Any advice guys???

I would have taken it straight back to the dealer first then gone to Alpine if the dealer had not done anything to help and complained.
Never had a problem with Alpine personally, my last head unit was replaced under warranty after 11 months by Alpine because the display went, so i have no complaints.

Alpine, or any manufacturer, will always tell you to take up any manufacturing problems with the dealer. This (amongst other things) is why dealers make margin - part of it is to support the products, and handle the returns.
Good luck with your dealer.

If there's none available in the country then what can they do?
Have they offered you a replacement of a similar value?
How old was the unit? Was it within the exchange period (normally around 28 days) or has it been sent to be repaired?
If you're getting no joy, speak to the Citizen's advice bureau.
If I recall correctly, repairs have to legally be carried out "within a reasonable time", but law does not set out what reasonable is.
My opinion is that 8 weeks is bordering on the far end of reasonable. I think you need to continue with your dealer, and, failing that, I might try alpine again.

That's what I was checking really....are these things so hard to come by that there are sometimes none in the country???
They have offered to replace with a new one but that was 2 months ago.
You're probably right....time to get some advice from the professionals!
