Only had my scoob 2 weeks and just got around to installing the above headunit in place of the Sony CD player that came with it. Have changed the metal cage over to the Kenwood and all the wiring is ok but the unit doesnt seem to fit in the whole depth-wise i.e. when I push it back it seems to hit the mass of cable behind it. Anyone else have such problems installing into a scoob - is an MY00 btw?

Also as soon as I power her up it goes into some Scan mode which I cant seem to stop. Would look in the manual but god knows where Ive put it.

I know a fair few of you have this headunit so thought you'd know.

Ok got rid of the scan prob but still cant get the unit in far enough to flit flush with the facia. Measuring it against the old sony unit it is a good inch longer and appears to be hitting a metal bar towards the rear. Anyone else get this problem or is it something that was installed to hold the Sony unit in place?

Hmmm could be something Sony specific.....

I fitted my Kenwood 6051 the other day and it slotted in OK in a MY00. My previous Kenwood 8080R was a very tight fit due to the HUGE amount of cables, gadgets, preouts, etc. coming out the back of the head unit. That one did fit eventually, but there was a lot of cable moving required and hoping that the headunit would then slot in.

There are some metal bits anyway in the slot, but you should be able to fit a kenwood unit in there. Depth wise shouldn't be an issue, just the amount of crap that comes out the back. Can you measure the depth to this metal bar with a ruler and measure the depth of your 6090 and see if it will fit? If it doesn't, it sounds like it is something that has been put in for the Sony.

Yes, mine was a very tight fit depth ways. I just spent ages moving the multitude of cables and connectors around until it went in. I remember hurting my hands a lot whilst trying to do so

Ah well I gave up and took it to Cambridge Car Audio who spent 10 mins sorting it and didnt charge me. Pukka service.
