Hope someone can help out on this one!!

My Alpine head unit stopped working this evening so I took it out and checked all the connections - illumination, earth, red and yellow power leads - still not working.

Just to test, I plugged both yellow and red leads fron the head unit into the yellow lead from the dash - works, but obviously on constant power.

Can anyone help so I can get it to work properly??

You need to check the ignition power cable, best done with a multimeter (bought mine from tandys, only £20 for a very versatile digital one). If it works on the constant power, then somewhere the ignition power has been cut, probably by a fuse, so check the fuse box in the engine bay first off. Is everything else working ok on the dash (clock, lights, etc)?

Yeah,

The dash - clock, lights, etc are all working and fuse 9 in coin tray fuse box couldn't have blown as the clock still works - I'm really at a lost cause!

Anymore ideas?

It does sound like a fault with the ignition supply.

Matt, I'd have a look for you if you're passing near london!!! You need to trace the ignotion power lead and find where the fault is, (thats the Haynes Manual reply!!) worth checking with a scooby dealer first, they may have some ideas.

Thanks for the help guys.

Checked fuse 9 in the fuse box behind the coin tray and surprise surprise, it had blown.......strange that the clock was still working??

Once again, cheers for help.

(I now own a multimeter!!!!)
