Thumbs up

Well the 7969 is only £549 on www.mcs-direct.co.uk !

Also the 7876 is £346

I personally can't make my mind up to buy an Alpine or one of the Pioneers....

Hi there,

scooby now gone and being replaced by a PD150 golf on Friday.

I am wanting to get a good stereo back in the car because I'm sure the factory fit will be ****e.

I have some Boston Acoustics Rallye RC61s (6" component with separate tweeters) which will probably go in the front.

I need a good set of speakers (<300 quid) for the rear doors - again probably other 6" component and tweeter. I wondered if getting another set of Rallyes is the best thing to do here...any opinions ???

I'm also going to buy a new headunit - well I am if the sony one installed in the car is rubbish - which it probably is. I've always used Alpine units as they seem to offer a good set of features and nice clean sound. Got my eye on either a CDA7878 or CDA7969. They seem pretty expensive. The CDA-7876RB seems more in my price range at RRP £500

Anyone have any experience of these ???

I'm just suggesting alpine because I have tunnel vision. If anyone can suggest anything else I'll give one a listen.

regards

Ian.

So what about my rear speakers - I need something that will complement the Boston Rallyes ??? Any Ideas ??? more Bostons ???

I think the rear door is a component 6" Main and tweeter.

I really wonder if I should be looking at a reasonable 4way amp to get the best out of the speakers ???

Some of the latest Alpine units are now 4x60W but I guess they will never sound as good as when being driven by a nice amp ???

sorry for all the questions.

Regards

Ian
(ps: please don't hate me now the P1 has gone)

Cool

can't go wrong with the bostons as i put a pair of the fs in my bruvs' golf last year. But do you really want definition in the back? You don't want to upset the soundstage too much. It may be worth buying the fs series if you want high end definition in the rear, as you are going to hear the majority of the sound (quality) from the fronts, unless you're running a dvd surround sound set up.

personally, I'd spend less and save a few quid for a better hu, amp or sub or something
