Question

I was wondering if the multi-changer to add onto the standard Phillips stereo (MY00) is any good. Any one got one fitted? Or would It be better (or cheaper)to replace the whole lot?

Cheers

It would be better, and could be cheaper, to replace the whole lot. Needn't be expensive.

What sort of money are you thinking of for the changer alone?

Nick,

I was thinking of just getting the changer and plugging it up to the standard stereo (depending on the cost) I have only just got the car so money is a bit tight at the moment, and I couldn't afford to go out and buy a whole new set-up.

Wink

why not get one of the fm cd changers - that way you could use it with the existing hu (through the fm frequency on the radio) then upgrade the hu with the same make as the changer later. easy. and I bet nick is right - a standard scoob cd changer will be more expensive anyway.

Not a bad option above, but personally I'd rather not bother than use an FM modulator.

Have a look on line at the usual suspects, such as http://www.caraudiodirect.com, http://www.edworthys.co.uk and the others and you'll be able to cut your cloth to suit.

Cheers,

Nick.

I got the standard changer - works a treat. Would have preferred sommat with cd text but does the job pretty well.

It is a bit selective about which cd-r's (backup cd's) it plays and doesnt do re-writables. Once yer find a brand it likes, no problems. Original cd's are fine.

Craig.

Unhappy

No joy from those 2 web sites Nick. Been doing some ringing around, and a six disc changer to fit the standard stereo is going to set me back £200 . I was looking to spend only half that.

Oh well, looks like i'll be listening to some tapes for a bit until i can afford to upgrade. (or I can open the windows and listen to the exhaust )

James,

Keep your eyes peeled in the For Sale forum (or put a post up in Wanted). Every know and again one pops up.
