Had a bit of a strange one the last few weeks, stereo has been hit and miss as to whether it works or not. It's the standard head unit in the hatch STi - non nav unit.

To the outside world you would think the head unit was working (displays radio station, cd time appears to count as normal, changes source correctly) but it just stops outputting any sound ... can only assume its something to do with the built in amp?

Sometimes it doesn't work from turning the key and sometimes it just cuts out mid drive. Usually a complete shutdown and remove the key from the ignition for 5 seconds will sort it but not always.

If I turn the unit off once the sound drops out using the power/volume button and then turn it on again it takes a while to boot up and sometimes just displays the 'Subaru' wording for ages.

Anyone suffered anythign similar? Cheers.

Guessing by lack of replies it's not something that's cropped up before (certainly searching has been fruitless) ...

Guessing it's new head unit time then
