Default Composite firewalls and boot floor.

Ok guys I am thinking of doing this again if there is enough interest.

If there is sufficient interest I can do them for newage impreza's as I will be making a newage template shortly. I would only be able to do the boot floor at standard length for the newage as there is no way of measuring the long one on my road car.

The rear seat back firewalls and boot floor panels are made from 3mm alloy composite. This has a gloss side and a matt side. It is very light and much stronger than comparable alloy on its own. It has protective plastic on so its impossible to tell if there are any imperfections in the finish as I dont want to pull the protective plastic off. If there are it will be very minor, just being honest as its difficult to cut and file it without risking some small marks. The composite is considerably more expensive than plain alloy but as mentioned is much stronger and does not require painting or treating. The white ones are slightly more expensive as the composite is dearer in white for some reason.

I have made previous batches of boot floor panels longer than normal so that they can be used to create a diffuser if you intend cutting your bumper at the same time, this time I would need to know what option was needed to save on the composite.

To make it worthwhile I would need a min of 5 orders of any black item and again a min of 5 of any white items. Doesn't matter if its a mix of boot floors and seat backs firewalls its more for buying the composite. I don't get any discount the more composite I buy so its not possible to reduce the price even if there is a massive interest.

Firewall in white £130

Firewall in black £125

Boot floor in white £115 (£120 if long version to extend into bumper for diffuser)

Boot floor in Black £110 (£115 if long version to extend into bumper for diffuser)

Picture of boot floor on my car extending onto the bumper to create a diffuser. I managed to get mine to mate nicely with the lip that was left on the bumper. All i did was rivet the panel inplace and then gently bend the section up to meet the bumper cut out making a nice smooth curve.

Prices are plus postage and paypal fees. I am happy to package these up and courier them but would be happier if you arranged your own courier.

Will have a look but I suspect it will be lots. Its getting harder to courier them within the UK due to the size. Weight isn't an issue but overall size once boxed up and protected becomes the problem.

Hi Arch,
I'll take a blobeye (03STi) firewall in black please. Group buy looks like this.

Firewall in black
1 samben - newage
2 Mackers - newage blobeye
3 LDNSTi - newage blobeye
4 FredW - newage blobeye

not sure what sweden is interested in but sure he will add his name

Yes all the ones in the pictures are for classics. The composite isn't Carbon fibre can you imagine the price of a piece of carbon fibre that big. The material is two outer layers of aluminium sandwiching a polythene core. The material is very light and very strong.

Sorry for not getting back to the PM's will sort tonight.

Arch, Can I take a newage firewall in white please.

Also might be interested in a newage boot floor with the diffuser extension. Have you got a picture from inside of your car (I know it's a gc8) of how your floor mounts? Basically is it attached above or below the chassis rails?

Si Plenty pics on my project thread. Its riveted on above the chassis rails, to attach it below would not give the same level of support.
Will need to see what I have left in white as most people are after black and the white is more expensive for some reason so would be expensive to buy a sheet for one item.

Thanks Arch.

Black is fine, car's going to paint anyway.
BTW, have you tried to fabricate any diffuser end plates / airflow guide's for your diffuser from the same material? if so, does it bond too ok or have you attached them another way?

Lol started doing this yesterday. I have started cutting out templates, if the surface is flat then its not a problem but this material does not fold well, it can be bent in a curve but you cant right angle it. I am going to box the chassis rails separately and then have single pieces of the composite attached to the boot floor probably using right angle brackets riveted and discretely placed. Not something that could be made off the shelf tho.

Should have added the material will bond in the same way aluminium or any flat surface will.

guys I am hoping to get the new age firewall template made up this weekend. I would anticipate these being finished and ready to ship out by the end of this month.
I have had a quick look at courier costs and due to the size the cheepest quotes i can find are around £16-17 region without insurance to Uk mainland. Insurance is £7 up to £100 and £13 up to £250. Rates to NI are much higher and were coming in around £42 without insurance.

The cost to sweden would be ridiculous so unfortunately I think it is a non starter. The costs have gone up massively since i first done this. The problem is the physical size once boxed up. If anyone else has any ideas to get a deal on shipping feel free to jump in and suggest. I have tried interparcel, Paisley frieight and parcelforce. Interparcel wont quote for the dimensions. Parcelforce needs to be Express 48 large due to the dimensions. Paisley freight was the cheepest I could find.

Can those still interested in this drop me a PM. I don't want to start ordering composite only to find some no longer need them. I will only have a small window of time to do this due to time requirements on my own car so basically by the end of this week will determine if it goes ahead or not.
thanks

Ok guys I have cut the panels today and will file and finally shape them tomorrow. I will hopefully test fit the newage ones at the weekend.
I have cut 5 newage panels 4 black and one white and one classic panel in white.

The white composite they sent this time has an alloy back instead of white both sides. I have cut it so the white side faces the inside so it is available if anyone prefers it. It will be the same price as the black.

The list as above is

1. Fred W - Newage Firewall Black
2. Leecalcars - Classic Firewall White
3. Mackers - newage firewall Black

Ok guys panels all finished today.
Dave I have put your name on the newage white panel list amended.

White Classic

White Newage

Black Newage

These are a nightmare to pack but I am aiming for collection from me next Mon or Tue if I can get them packed. If not it will be the following week. I will have to get some polystyrene to pack them, when that arrives will determine collection.

I have checked postage and due too the size the cheapest I can do the postage and packing is £20 per panel and that is me paying for most of the packaging.

There are 2 Newage black panels still available. If anyone needs one drop me a PM

thanks
Archie
