Exclamation Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 Group Buy

Fellow Scoobynetters,

My old post text got deleted and, although I've asked SN moderators several times, it has not been restored. Sorry for taking so long to get things back together but I had a very busy Xmas! The important thing is the prices and volume breaks which work out like this:

No discount: £155
15% discount (10-14 units): £142
20% discount (15+ units): £127

This is for the full kit with all reflash connectors which is this product on their site: Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 with Full Adapter Set. This will work on all new-age WRXs and WRX STIs (full list here) and is compatible with open source mapping software such as ECUFlash (full list here)

My price includes:
- Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 with Full Adapter Set
- Insured shipping to UK
- 17.5% VAT (increased from 15% on last prices due to Mr Darling's New Years VAT hike)
- 5% import duty (added for safety from last time)
- Royal Mail Special Delivery in the UK (I'll work something out for the peeps who wanted shipping to Europe)

There is a good chance that the VAT and import duty will not be payable so the prices above are the maximum you will pay. I intend to take all payments through PayPal so I can reimburse the difference when the final damage comes in (i.e. actual exchange rate and whether VAT/import duty were paid). To put this into perspective, the 20% discounted price could be as little as £106 if things work out in our favour!

So onto the list:

1) rubinho
2) linky
3) gus sti8
4) Neanderthal
5) Dutch Scooby lover (wants shipping to Netherlands)
6) bengo
7) RAVENLEON

Linky,

Tactrix say they will let me know when they have stock for a biggish order. They had a few singles the other day but I think (as you say) they are totally out on the full kits right now.

I though there would just be VAT to pay if customs got involved but I'll do some more research.

Cheers,

Rubinho

I believe it is used for open source mapping, ie . you could map your own car with it.

You got it! It can be used to monitor the car's engine sensors and some strategy channels for data logging too. It'll also reset an engine light and read the fault codes.

Is the tactrix hardware only a OBD2 connector? I already have a connector so could download the software and take a look.

The Tactrix cable has a custom chipset which talks the SSM (Subaru Select Monitor) protocol in addition to the normal OBD-II/EOBD protocol that most OBD-II cables (i.e. Elm based devices) talk. It also has an SD card interface for data logging and a serial port for connecting up a wideband lambda sensor. You can do the full mapping cycle: log data for analysis, make map changes, upload to the car and log data again to see what changed.

In response to Neanderthal, with Tactrix's stock situation at the minute (they still haven't emailed me to say they're ready for a bulk order) and the rate that people are signing up I doubt we'll get an order out before Jan. Shall I add you to the list?

Just got one of these the other day (Just the Openport 2.0 and the ODB2 connector not the additional EVO or Wrx connectors as I didn't need them).
Anyhow, got stung by customs and here is the cost breakdown:
$169.00 Tactrix OpenPort 2.0
$32.50 Shipping
(£124.60 Subtotal)

£17.49 VAT
£13.50 ParcelForce Clearance Fee

£155.59 Grand Total

I remember getting stung with charges importing mountain bike gear in the 90's and I think I paid duty and VAT on one order and it came to around 25%. With the clerance fee from parcelforce this works out about that as well.
For a group buy you would save on:
1. Shipping
2. Clearance Fee (I think this might be a flat fee but not sure, you need to check)
3. Discount

So overall a worthwhile deal!

Happy Christmas!

I may be interested in this (I haven't got a car at the moment ) but was planning on getting one to monitor then eventually map if I get the time to do the research.
Will I be able to reset my service light on a Pug 806 if I get the right software, think its obd2.

Any way if the price is right I would be in but need posting to France

Not sure where all of the text from my post has gone. I've reported to mod to see if they can get it back. Can't remember what it all said!

Thanks.
I'll send one to the Netherlands for you. I'm happy to send one to France to rbaz too. There'll be a little extra postage but I'll choose an inexpensive service.

Still no word from mods as to where the text from my first post has gone. I really don't want to type it all again!

Ok, I've tried to recover as much as I can remember. Prices up, you'll see they've changed due to the VAT hike and I put in a 5% for import duty just in case it gets charged. A full rundown is above.

Thanks for your patience (blame SN for the loss of the original text and lack of recovery and me for being lazy over my Xmas holiday and not writing it back up)!

We need at least 10 people to qualify for any sort of discount and we've only got 7 signed up so far. Ideally we'd get another 8 people to qualify for the full 20% discount.

Any ideas on how we can rally up some more interest?

I'm afraid that, due to a lack of my time and also a lack of interest on the board, this group buy will not run.
