what are the 5 speeds rated at bren? i need a clutch to mate to my flywheel thats gonna handle in the high 300's ft /lb torque but drive like an oem. been looking at helix clutches - theyre capable of taking 400ft/lb with oem driveability.

Hi Bren

Funny enough a couple of months ago i started a thread to gauge interest but nothing sparked up.
Im still looking for a clutch and lightened flywheel, which i will be in a position to purchase the month after ive paid you for the suspension

the only thing im not 100% sure about is the clamping force rating and the lb per ft.

my 1994 impreza wrx import is standard at the minute, but wont be staying that way.

looking at
FMIC from harvey
HKS full decat system
and possibly upgrade to TD05 16G turbo
obviously this will require a remap but really dont know where i will be with BHP so dont know if the exedy will handle it.

dont suppose you could shed some light on it for me?

many thanks Bren

Exedy dont give any torque handling capabilities for their clutch kits which is useful but let me do some more digging

Our STi6 5 speed Impreza was running 330bhp with an Exedy organic with no issues and it looks like 350bhp is reasonable although if youve a 2.5 conversion then I dont how the additional torque at that bhp would effect the clutches performance.

I'll be running 420bhp and probably around 370-390torque in a weeks time. Would the organic or paddle take this?

Beware clutch thrash & judder!

I have just thrown my Exedy 5.7kg flywheel in the bin. The car (99MY RB5) is my daily driver and it was just horrible. Have gone back to the std flywheel and P1 clutch and everything is rosy.
Can't recommend the light flywheel for anything other than trackday/competition use.

Talk to David at APi if you want to know about clutch thrash. He's the one who explained it to me (too late!).

I thought that a light weight fly wheel was fine Mike? thought it was only lightening the oe that was a no no as it weakens it and can disintergrate which can mean pieces of fly wheel clipping your toe nails or worse!!!!
