Default Porter Cable 7424 Machine Polisher

Closed - If you want in, please PM me your Paypal address and requirements ASAP.

The porter cable 7424 is one of the best machine polishers on the market today. Below is a little info on the unit -

Proper polishing of a paint finish requires several grades (abrasive levels) of polish. You start with a cutting polish (fine compound) to remove heavy oxidation, scratches, heavy swirl marks and stains. When these blemishes are gone or diminished to the point where they are no longer noticeable, you switch to a polish with moderate abrasiveness to finesse remaining trouble areas (without removing excessive paint thickness) and restore overall gloss. To add exceptional gloss, and maintain the high gloss finish, you use an ultra-fine polish with very low abrasives. Just as each of these polishing steps requires a different level of polish, each step demands a different density foam buffing pad.
The paint care experts at Sonus have developed a complete polishing system that expertly matches the Porter Cable 7424 polisher with a backing plate, foam pads and bonnets. Here's what the kit contains:

Porter Cable 7424 Dual-Action Polisher

The Porter Cable 7424 is a dual-action (random-orbit), swirl-free polishing and buffing machine that will not scratch or damage automotive finishes. It is designed to safely apply polish, glaze or wax in the same random manner as hand application. In minutes, the dual-action motion of the 7424 creates a mirror-like finish that would take hours of hand labor.
Sonus DAS FlexPlate increases machine buffing safety and comfort!

The Sonus DAS FlexPlate™ replaces the standard Porter Cable polishing pad allowing pads to be changed quickly and easily. The Sonus DAS FlexPlate requires only 0.15 pounds per square inch of pad pressure to begin flexing, offer better comfort (less hopping) and impoved polishing safety. With its unique 30 degree beveled edge, fully-laminated Velcro backing, and advanced polyurethane foam construction, the Sonus DAS FlexPlate adds a new level of safety and quality. When used with 6” to 7” foam pads, the Sonus DAS FlexPlate is perfectly balanced for use with the standard Porter Cable 7424.

Best qualities of a cutting and polishing pad in one!

Use the Sonus DAS Orange Foam Pad to remove swirl marks, light scratches, water spots and medium oxidation. This foam pad works great with Sonus SFX-1 Restore polish and Autoglym Paint Renovator. This pad is not as aggressive as most yellow cutting pads, yet it achieves 90% of the work without dulling the clearcoat finish. Follow the Sonus DAS Orange Foam Pad should always be followed with the DAS Green Foam Pad and a finishing polish.
Gently clean, perfect and improve gloss with the Sonus DAS Green Foam Pad!

Sonus DAS Green Foam Pad is to be used on clear coats to remove minor swirl marks and light oxidation. The Green pad works great with Sonus SFX-2 Enhance polish to restore gloss lost due to low maintenance or extreme environmental conditions. To remove heavy oxidation, excessive swirl marks and minor scratches, first use the Sonus DAS Orange Foam Pad with Sonus SFX-1 Restore polish.
Create and maintain superior gloss and radiance with the Sonus DAS Blue Foam Pad. Use this pad to apply your favorite wax or sealant by machine, too!

The Sonus DAS Blue Foam Pad is to be used on clear coats for final gloss polishing and pre-wax cleaning. When used with a pre-wax cleaner or fine polish, such as Sonus Paintwork Cleanser, it will improve overall gloss, but it will not remove paint defects. This pad works great with Sonus Paintwork Cleanser, Klasse All-In-One, and P21S Paintwork Cleanser. Use the Sonus DAS Blue Foam Pad to apply liquid waxes and sealants. The silky-smooth texture of the blue foam applies a thin, even coating of wax or sealant protection.
The Sonus DAS Buffing Bonnet is the easy way to remove polish and wax residue and bring out a radiant, high-gloss finish.

The polishing advantage of our edgeless microfiber towel is now available in the Sonus DAS Buffing Bonnet for your Porter Cable Polisher. Our DAS Buffing Bonnets can be used after polishing to remove light polish residues. These bonnets are superb for removing single-step products like Klasse All-In-One. The DAS Buffing Bonnet has just the right texture to apply a super thin layer of Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze or Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection, which require a very light coating for easy removal and best gloss. The DAS Buffing Bonnet fits over any 6-7 inch foam pad. The DAS Orange Foam Pad is the ideal density.

I would be very interested depending on price. Most people over on Detailing World rate the SFX pads better than the DAS ones so it might be worth getting a price on those

I'm still waiting for the supplier to get back to me. I've emailed a few other suppliers so we can get the best price.

Deva - Yes, it will need a step-down transformer. I've checked out E-Bay and you can get them delivered for approx £8. Perhaps we could do a GB on those if this GB goes well!

I'll keep you all posted as soon as the information starts to come in!

Nick.

Porter Cable stuff is very good equipment, as yet unswallowed by the power tool moguls...like DeWalt were before they sold out to Black&Decker for instance.

You do get what you pay for

Hi Deva,

The transoformer is just like the one below in the link -

Portable Power Tool & Site Transformers - Transformers, Inverters, Phase Converters & Solar Panels - Machine Mart

The small ones on ebay that you see for £10 don't have the rating to keep the PC working. They would just burn out and may cause damage to your electrics.

I haven't a specific picture of the one supplied unfortunately.

Nick.
