AP 4pots 330mm..anyone..?
Have been talking to a few suppliers regarding this kit for my WRX.
Basically AP 4pot CP5200 caliper with 330x28mm AP discs (not sure of pad options yet, awaiting reply..
Decided to go for 4pots as I'm keen to keep unsprung weight down and for my needs (100% fast road) they're more than up to the job. Also cheaper replacement pads than 6 pot kits that seem to be all the rage at the moment (albeit with the inferior and heavier CP7040). IMHO 6 pots are over kill..
So anyone interested if the price is right..?
Jason..

Great, I recon if we can get a minimum of five we should get a decent price..
If the price isn't good enough there could be an alternative in the KAD 6 pot 330mm kits, which by all account are as good as the AP kit..?
KAD : Subaru Brake Upgrades
Personally I'd prefer the AP kit (as I'm a bit of a tart..), but the price has to be right..
Keep 'em coming..!

Right guy's starting to get some, IMO, half decent prices back, but I'm pushing for a better deal so bear with me for a few days..
Put it this way, with recent price increases, you're unlikely to better the final price that I'm given.
Options so far are:
AP 4pot 330mm very nice, but they're going to be dearer than,
KAD 6pot 330mm supposed to be equally good but ~£200+ cheaper
Stoptech 4pot 332mm again, very highly rated with similar price to KAD's
Hopefully final prices soon, but what are your preferences (IE would you still want the AP's at say around £200+ premium..?).

I would rather stick to the 4 pots.........and would be happy with the Stoptech brakes if they where a cheaper option..but may be swayed to the Ap,s if thats the route the groupbuy was going.

I wouldn't have the APs on my car even if they were cheaper than the Stoptech kit. I can put the price up for a Stoptech group buy if it makes people think they're getting something more! More pistons doesn't mean better brakes. There are some 6 and 10 pot brakes that have shocking amounts of caliper flex that you can easily see.

I have a 328x28 4 pot StopTech kit from Paul. I have had it for a fair while now and I cannot fault its performance. Mine has a light squeal under very light braking which I can live with.. (I just brake later and harder but watch out for those facial expressions in the mirror from people trying to park in your boot!)
I cannot compare them to anything else on the same car but suffice to say they definitely do their job well!
They are a tight fit under my PD7 wheels with 3mm clearance from the spokes and about 2mm from the weights. Something to check with any of the after market kits, so from the research I did:
Here is a list of wheels that fit.
For a wheel template to check for clearance issues:
328x28
332x32
355x32 <- If you really need them!
Instructions
They say 2002> but the 328x28 was spot on when I measured the wheel to when they were fitted. This is on a MY00.
Happy errr, stopping!

Right the options/prices so far:
Stoptech 4 pots (via Zen) for x5 five or more and any brake kit, 330x32 for new age, 328x28 for classic £1200
KAD 6 pots 330x28mm via (AS Performance) for x5 or more identical kits (caliper & bell colour options aside) £1300
AP 4 pot 330x28 AP CP5200 caliper and disc (via Godspeed) £1400 (possibly more to come off this..!)
All kits include VAT.
Stoptech and KAD kits come with hoses and fluid, but not delivery.
AP kit includes delivery but no hoses or fluid.
Have to say I'm undecided on which way to go as I was originally set on some AP's, but the other kits are supposed to be equally as effective (even better according to some test data..!) and a little cheaper..!
So come on guys help me out..!

£1200 inc lines and vat for the stoptech kit sounds good to me..and delivery not a problem as can collect..
Would need about 2-3 weeks before funds would be available though.

Same for me as I'd collect too..
I'm asking about a deal on fitting for those who may be interested.
So far we have a possible 5 for the Stoptech kits:
1. Jasonius (more than likely stoptech kit)
2. Rooferman
3. Renno Rannes
4. Cookstar
5. Scooby2.5maz
6.
7.
If you have a caliper colour pref please add (iirc available in red, black or silver)..

Are we agreed? If so I will put together prices for the other brake kits, and also the lines and fluid. But what I don't want is for this to be used as leverage to get another group buy from someone else. It will either **** me off, or if someone feels they can't compete, then it will **** them off.
If you guys would like specifically a Stoptech group buy then lets start a proper thread, and I will sort out all the pricing, there are also a variety of pads that people may want to use depending on application, but they would be at extra cost.
I would like this to go ahead as I beleive the Stoptech brakes are as good if not better than the equivalent AP road kits, the low price should not be taken as a representation of the quality. I can point out a number of areas where the Stoptech are technically better than competitive products (if asked, but would like to get pictures together to show the differences).
