Lightbulb Brackets to allow 2 pot rears to be fitted to early classics

I'am having brackets made to allow the 2 pot vented disc rear brakes from the New age WRX to be fitted to the pre MY99 cars (265mm disk with 170mm handbrake drum).

The New age vented disc is 290mm dia with a 170mm handbrake drum. So the disks will fit straight on but the calipers need spacing out with this bracket.

If I can get 6 people together we can get them for £117 per pair.
If I can gather 10 interested parties then it goes down to £100 a pair

I will have to add a couple of £ P&P but it will be kept to a minimum

These are made from HE30 Ali for those who know material specs.
Like these:

I have 4 people interested so far

Anyone else fancy upgrading from the rear single pot calipers to the later twin pots?

Just to be awkward - I've an STI3 with vented rears and a pair of rear Brembo discs from an STI7 - will these be of any use to me?

The don't think the Brembos have the same mounting points, but if I get enough interest in the 2 pot brackets I can look into getting some made for the Brembos

Does this do away with the previous need to change driveshafts/rear diff etc and stuff to fit the 2 pots?

Sounds a good idea if so ... not needing them yet but worth knowing about! Nice one Dyney!!

Sorry, I was looking / meaning for 1993-1996 cars ??

Lee YHM back

I don't know what improvements it will make as I haven't had the brackets made yet

But Subaru must have thought there was an advantage to fitting them or they wouldn't have changed from the single piston calipers

Just checking in.

Would also add that buying a set of brackets now could be a shrewd investment for those considering the 2 pot rear conversion in the future.

Even if you're not considering the conversion, it would at least mean you could make an impulse bargain buy of some Subaru 2 pot rear calipers and not have them sitting around for the best part of a year (mentioning no names)!

That's three of us now interested in fitting the STi7 (190mm handbrake/315mm disks/gold brembo calipers) onto classics.

Have you seen this kit (look at post #60)?

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...=474796&page=3

Again, this means no changing of backing plates (though you would have to cut off the splash guards), keeping the original hubs and driveshafts etc.

I have spoken to the guy selling them (Dan at Godspeed Inc. in the USA) and the price is $600 (£317.72) for a set. I have not asked about group buy prices, but will do so.

Dyney - if you can make this kit for cheaper, please let me know.

The brackets I'm having done will noy AFAIK allow you to fit the STI Brembos.

If this GB goes well I will have a chat with the guys making them and see if they want to make some to fit the Brembos. I expect they can beat that price, but I would need a pair of rear Brembos for them to make measurements and mock ups.

I'm going to be picking up a complete Sti 7 brake set(front and rear calipers and discs) the front will be fitted straight away, but if you would like to borough the rear calipers you are more then welcome to them as without the bracket they are no use to me.

Are the rear calipers from the Sti 7 made by Brembo as well?

Andy.

You could borrow my rear calipers/disks/car if I am nearer than RoRu (I'm in Stafford).
When I get the group buy pricing off Godspeed Inc. (which I have just requested) I'll start another thread so we can see then how many people are interested. I'd prefer to source these locally though if possible!

If the Godspeed inc. brackets fit and are a good price get them
It's going to be a while before I get this original GB finished.

Then there is a lot of measuring, checking and drawing before we get to produce them

I have created a new thread for the group buy of adapter kits to suit the Brembo calipers which can be found here.

I have also put a link back to this thread for those that require adapter kits for the subaru 2-pot calipers to classics.
