Default 2005 front brake caliper issues

Hi, last Thursday I had new discs and pads all round on my 2005 wrx. After driving the car the next day, while brakeing the car shook really viciously, so hard that it even knocked out the lights behind my dials. I took this straight back to the garage that fitted and was told to bring the car back the next day so they can look at it.
When I had a chance to look at the car in the light, I noticed the 2 pins that go through the caliper were hanging out, and I mean a long way out. So they now have the car and have told me it was a seized caliper that has caused the shaking problem which then shook the pins out. Howe likely is this and surely they would notice that the caliper seized when they installed the new discs and pads?
Before they had the car, it was as good as perfect. I only got the brakes done because I had only just got the car and I like to start fresh. What other problems could of caused the shaking. It didn't happen everytime I put the peddle down, I could brake and shake and then a mile later, Bradley and it feel fine.
They trying to say that I need a new or replacement caliper out a caliper rebuild kit. They are also trying to say that I've got to pay for it. Where do I stand and how much could this cost.

I thought the subaru 4 pots had a clip on the inside to keep those pins in place? Could it have snapped or been missed out by the garage?

You could slide the pins in and out quite freely. They were convinced the caliper had seized and said the pins broke due to the violent shaking that the sized caliper caused. They have replaced the caliper any way. Problem I have now is the wheel bearing needs to be replaced. If it ain't one thing, its your mother.
