forged pistons help

Default forged pistons help

doing a engine rebuild so wanting to build the bottom end strong
wots the max power for the Subaru HF forged short skirt pistons found in the early ej20 fully closed deck blocks ?
looked all over the net but carnt find any solid info

IMHO I wouldnt push the HF forged 'dog bone' pistons over 290/300 brake especially if they have the slot type drain on the oil control ring land.

there not slot type they have holes ? the car as had a engine in it but Im not sure on what version so unsure if these are the newer forged pistons ie v3/4

realistically they will most likely be fine at 350 or possibly even more BUT depends on your use/intended application...............

a high power car going to the shops and back every day at low boost is a totally different scenario to a medium power car doing trackdays/competition

I can't comment on the Phase 1 pictured but ive built a alotof engines using the V4/5 type and never had issues running 380/390. To be honest ive never seen these type break in any way as you see with a cast (wrx) piston.
