engine swap classic UK2000
Hey if anyone could help I have a classic Subaru UK2000 2.0 turbo engine and I need a shell to put this into I have been offered a shell from a 2.0 non turbo would the loom need to be changed as well or would it be a straight swap? I'm new to scoobys and only have limited knolege of them atm so any help would be great thanks
The brakes, gearbox, bonnets, diffs ect all all different, it wouldn't bother it would cost as much to modify the sport shell to turbo standard, interior isn't as nice also! Where are you based mate?
I'm in Ipswich. Iv got a complete car that's been hit on the n/s and damaged the sill ect so iv got everything ready to go into a shell just would prefer it with loom to save hassle of taking it out of my car into another shell

If you get a different model year engine/loom then the car then the dash and loom wont match eg clocks/switches etc. Its a big job.... Pretty much need to strip the shell to nothing. Then take EVERYTHING from a turbo car and put it in the sport. I am using a sport shell for a build right now. But every single part has been binned and I am rebuilding from the ground up. Conversion is far harder.

Cheers mate that's saved me a lot of time and effort. But I have got plenty of time to do it so might see what shell comes up and decide what to do then don't really need the car on the road so maybe a winter project and start from scratch to
Yeah you have two options. Firstly find out which model year your engine is from then find a turbo version with a wrecked engine of the same year. There are loads being broken for parts at the moment. Or get any shell, strip it to bare other then bodywork and rebuild using your engine and bits from a turbo car of the same version as your engine. You can get whatever hubs, gearbox, diff and shafts you like as long as they match each other (not the engine). The most important bits to match are going to be the loom, engine and ecu including any imobiliser bits. Then a dash that matches the loom do all the clocks and switches connect up correctly.
If you really want to do it don't be put off as I am doing it right now, it just takes quite a bit of research and effort and is a lot harder then fixing an already turbo'd car.

Ya most of the shells that keep coming up seem to be damaged or to far away so gona just see what comes up and decide then I think. Mechanically I can do most jobs just would just rather no how much work is ahead of me
