Overheating and the heater just blows cold
Hi all,
I've got 1995 wrx, I went to take it out this morning
And the temperature gauge got very hot and overheated,
Yet there was no hot air blowing through the heater.
I'm thinking thermostat but would it go just like that?
Any help would be good thanks

If the heater blows cold it's usually an indication that the matrix has no coolant in it. Check your fluid level and then find out where the leak is coming from by inspecting the engine bay as the car gets up to temperature.
It's most likely to be the header tank, radiator or water pump. Let us know how you get on.

Ok thanks
I did find a leak in the front of the radiator but sealed that using some special
Formula, I felt the bottom rad hose when it was up to temperature and it was stone cold?

Burp the system, whack a large funnel into the header tank. Seal it best you can, and have some spare ready made coolant on standby.
Fire it up and once the water starts rising into the funnel, rev it gently. You might see lots of bubbles coming out. This is what you want. Then pour in some coolant into the funnel as the funnel level drops again.
The amount of coolant you get back in should roughly be the size of the air lock.
Switch off, let it all cool down for at least 45 mins, then top up the header tank if needed.

Or, better still, do it properly.
Completely drain and refill as explained on here loads of times.
There is no known way to effectively bleed the cooling system of a Scoob...you might, but you just might not, and running it with an airlock WILL destroy head gaskets, which, in turn, can destroy the engine.
