lambda sensor missing off downpipe?

lambda sensor missing off downpipe?

the lambda sensor is missing off my classic 1996 subaru down pipe,just have a bung/bolt in there is there anywhere else it could be or has it been botched? can car run without one?

if its an v1-2 import then the Lambda is actually in the OS manifold collector just below the up-pipe flange
