Default Newbie with a dumb question

I've just acquired a 96 uk wrx and it came with no gearbox or diff I've managed to source both gearbox and diff my question is the gear selector compatable and do all drive shafts fit in any gearbox

Look at the plate on the near side (left) suspension strut.
