Default oil leaking from h. gasketi

Just started car and there seems to be oil coming out of h.gasket area....
Gets worse when engine is warm......

Any ideas.

Was thinking the balance ports on cam covers are blocked... would that do it..??

Defo the head gaskets, not the cam-cover gaskets, which are known to go, esp driver's side?

Very un-usual for the head gaskets to leak oil externally - I would clean the area down to remove any residue of oil and check it again with a torch and a mirror to pin point the leak.

Oil will be thinner maybe that would cause it to be worse when engine is warm?

Hang on, how do you KNOW it's coming out where the head bolts are? they are UNDER the cam covers..... and you can't start the engine with the cam covers off, oil will go everywhere......

left hand head (passenger side) oil feed gallery for the cylinder head - looks like you are running carbon composite gaskets so assuming its a Version 3~4 engine.
Never seen an external leak from there before - only cure is to replace the head gasket IMHO.

Was it a self build or did you buy the rebuilt engine ? If the latter, then send it back.
It would be prudent to upgrade to the STi Version 3~4 OEM MLS head gaskets ( Part Number 11044AA463 ) when they are changed.

Give it a damn good clean, get a decent quality cleaner and some bottle brushes to help get in the tight bits. Don't use a pressure washer to rinse just you a hose pipe at quite low flow to rinse off. Then go for a drive to dry the engine and allow the oil to get up to temperature. Then as said use a torch and a mirror to have a good look round for where the oil is coming from.
Is the engine actually using oil significantl?.

Ya built by a friend who is a very well known Subaru expert..
Did have a kink in pipe for breather... didn't know if it was my fault... as was fitting a catch can...
It all side of oil run.. left and right side top and bottom of engine.
So i guess a **** head gasket.. will be upgrading to mls one mate
