Power Steering Pump?
I 'think' my power steering pump is on it's way out and I'm getting a few different symptoms.
It's an EJ25 STi lump in a Forester.
I'm not losing any fluid and some days the issue won't present at all, others it's quite prevalent.
I know that belt slip is common but I'm thinking that perhaps the pump is starting to stiffen up. I wondered if there are any relatively easy checks I can do for myself before bunging it into a garage and biting the bullet and replacing the pump in the hope it cures it.

- I'm getting belt squeal, especially approaching and at full lock.
- The power steering will at times only work intermittently.
- The 'intermittent' failure seems to be cured by giving a bit of power to the engine.
