Welcome to scoobynet

So there are no fault codes logged in the ECU?

Have you had the car mapped after doing all the modifications?.you have added a bigger fuel pump and bigger injetors its chucking more fuel in now so it could be flooding it.

Sounds like your car is not set up properly,I'm quite surprised though that if there was a problem and you took it to slowboys that they could not find it.SJ.

white smoke isnt fuel smoke. Black smoke is fuel smoke and usually seen when boost comes in on hard acceleration. as for the smell of petrol... mine stinks too but is ticking over at 14-15 afr on wideband. Did you gap the plugs? and what plugs did you use? 6b? 7b?

fuuny you say that mate see i thought the white smoke was my turbo oil seals as i got like a tea spoon at most of oil in my fmic but was told it was smoking because of the fuel the spark plugs im un sure of but was put in by the garage but i had the issue before the plugs went in

White smoke is usually water in the combustion or just water in the exhaust from condensation. If it goes away when warm then its not really a problem. Oil in the engine from failing turbo seals will have a blue tint and and the more oil the more blue will be apparent. If to much fuel is in the combustion and drowning the plugs then it will miss especially when under load. Oil in the intercooler is common due to the engine breathers being recycled but tons of oil in there would indicate a probpem obviously. Try resetting the ecu and go for a drive. Get it warm and check for codes. Just out of curiosity what is the ecu thats in there? You say the previous owner remapped it etc but is this actually true?

i hope its not water in any of the combustion chambers that would be bad news ,,,, the ecu is the nom 8s with a chip in but im un aware what chip it is to be honest ,,, as far as the last owner i cant saw for sure all he as had the map done but got pretty much all the paper work for engine mods maps etc ,,, the car its self dose on cold start ticks over ok wen warm now again it will hunt and mybe cough but thats not all the time the smoke side of thing dose get worse as the revs build tho

you can reset the ecu easily yourself using the the plugs under the steering column, or unplug the ecu for a min. 8s ecu is standard for a 97-98 uk turbo, with 380cc (greys) purple maf and td04 turbo. the only way to map that ecu is via an esl board which has only been available for a couple of years, if even that long. easy way to see is to pop the lid off the ecu and take a look for a daughter board. Running the mods you have on a standard 8s isnt good, 440s alone would make it overfuel quite a bit which really might have helped save the engine from the td05.
