Default Upgrades to v2 impreza sti?

Hello, just after some pointers on what I could do to improve my car;

http://www.flickr.com/photos/64737603@N06/11238296314/http://www.flickr.com/photos/64737603@N06/11238296314/]IMG_5234[/url, on Flickr

I'm wanting to keep the car as original as possible but wouldn't mind a little more power (say 300bhp) as well as improving he brakes and the suspension.

Any pointers dudes?

Go for an ESL live mapped board, sports cat and some four pot front brakes.
You can do that on a pretty tight budget and they'll all be effective upgrades...
As far as suspension goes, just make sure your current set up is in tip tip condition.
If you balance cost against potential improvements, I'd guess that this setup would be your best bet.

Thanks, I wouldn't mind a slightly louder exhaust just so I can hear the scooby burble a little more but don't want to go too wild.

What brakes do you reccomend that will fit under the 16s?

The 4-pots don't fit under the v2 16" rims, but the v3- 16" sti rims fit them I think.

I'd maybe keep the v2 standard wheels/brakes but get some PF discs & pads front & rear.

Panel filter, sports cat downpipe & WR Sport backbox along with the ESL daughterboard/remap.

You could easily uprate the ARB'S, droplinks and a bit of polybushing would go a long way to improve the handling whilst retaining the standard looks.

Is that the right shade of gold? Would look better with a brighter shade, like the colour found on Revo's.

I have a version 1 sti, I went with the 4 pots and later wheel which look way nicer. Throw in goodridge hoses and decent fluid you will be much happier.

I fitted some 17" st2's with 4-pots on the old v2 555 sti, but if you're wanting to retain standard looks you could do the braided hose, uprated fluid and the upgraded discs/pads with standard brakes/wheels?

Here's the 4-pots on my v2:

Nice standard looking car you have there, so rare to see an unmolested one these days
K&N or cosworth panel filter, decat exhaust, 440 injectors and an esl map will make a noticeable improvement in performance.
I'm still using the standard twin pots on my 320bhp RA. I stripped them down, new seals, fitted braided hoses, brake stopper and EBC yellow pads. Maybe I don't drive it hard enough on the road but the brakes haven't let me down yet. I have no doubt a brake upgrade is needed for track use.
You wont get 4 pots under those wheels, UK turbo 16" wheels will clear 4 pot calipers and keep the factory look

I think a suspension refresh, decat, exhaust, filter and map will be as far as I go.

Swap the TMIC for a later one, the standard slanty one is crap.

Also budget for a gearbox, the 752 cased ones are crap in my experience, I've killed a few of them.

Rare and stashed away no doubt Stu

Out of curiosity how much is a MAF for the early versions plus the ESL mapping ?
I hear they have shot up in price recently but no idea what that is, when you offset the cost of a MAF against the ESL map price it may be partly self funding.
In many respects you have to treat the later MAF's as serviceable items but I don't know the longevity of the early ones.
