Default check engine light question

Since the cold weather has arived ive had check engine light coming on breifly when I start it up in the mornings and then dissapears, in the week was driving it one night and the light stayed on got up next morning for work and wouldnt start is turning over fine but not fireing plus fans are automatically starting up when I turn the ignition on shes a subaru sti 1996 if anyone could shed any light wud be great thanks

That's like asking how long is a piece of string.

Could be anything, your best start would be to get an ODB reader and see what codes are showing.

Ok cheers didnt know if there would be a specific reason for the fans automatically coming on thats all thanks

That sounds like knock sensor failing, damp gets into sensor as car stands overnight so it throws the light on, as the engine heats it drys out the sensor and light goes off.

Obd reader wont work on your car, you need to connect the diagnostic plugs under the steering column to read the fault code
