Noisy oil catch can on newage
Hi All,
i've had an OBP ltd 3 port oil catch can installed, 2 ports are linked to the heads, and one port connected to the PCV, with one of the ports of the PCV connection blanked off. It has a vent on the top of the can, which vents to the atmosphere through a filter.
This is the one http://www.obpltd.com/SUBARU-Baffled...nk-OBPCTSU02BP
When coming off the gas and you can hear the air in the catch can REALLY loudly.
Its really annoying.
Has anyone else had the same experience? Is there a way around this?
As always, cheers in advance for anyone sharing their experience and knowledge

Hi John,
I strongly suspect my mechanic installed it wrong :-(
Do you have any pipes still connected to the original black metel pipe below the intercooler?
The mechanic has taken the black metal pipe completely off.
He block the part that the pcv connects too, then with the black plastic pipe that looks a little bit like a upward facing Y he blocked one arm, then ran a pipe to the catch can, along with the 2 pipes from the heads.
Does that make sense? Does that sound wrong?
Really appreciate any help on this! I've been driving it all over the place and hope I haven't caused any damage :-(

Sounds like it's plumbed in right. The black bar on the IC just 'T's the two head breathers together, so if you've got a 3port can he will have run a hose to each head, then the final one going to the crank breather.
If you can hear air, that must be coming from the output breather (normally via a mini air filter if in the engine bay). Most people run this via a long hose down the transmission tunnel and out (with no filter) near the rear of the car.
I did read on here quite recently that someone had one fitted in the bay with a filter, and the air pressure blew the filter off - so there's obviously a fair amount of air blowing out, which could be what you're hearing.
