To remove after market dump valve or not
Hi all
As some of you know I bought a WRX this week that had an after market dump valve. Personally I want to revert back to the stock recirc valve as, at 38, I'm a little old for loud hisses every time I change gear with more than 2000 odd revs on the clock.
So I guess I'm asking :
Is this a simple replacement ?
Would this also be a good time to fit a boost gauge off of the dump valve and if so is it fitted on the feed to the dump valve or after?
Sorry for all the questions!
Cheers
Dave

Its just preference, nothing wrong with them, some people love them, some hate them.
I run a Forge d/v but only because an OE recirc wont fit on my weird US intercooler. The car will run alot smoother with the OE recirc dump valve.
Just a simple case of unbolting the aftermarket one and then bolting on the new OE one. You''ll need to the retrive the recirc hose which may have been tucked away under the intercooler somewhere and will have a bung that you'll need to remove before connecting it but a 30min job at most.
If your fitting a boost gauge, just get a t-peice and splice into the small hose coming out of the inlet manifold to the left of the alternator. That way you can run the gauge hose up alongside the throttle cable so it looks nice and neat.

Do it while Halfords are still open - I damaged a jubilee clip and would have been buggered if the shops had been shut! It's not too hard, bit short on space in the engine bay but there are plenty of funny angles and ways to get into an impreza engine bay.

I'm running a DV with adjustable spring rate, I can set it so it only Vents to atmosphere at around 4k. Under that I get a nice bit of chatter sound around town.
One thing that I've never had answered is if you are running blanked or recirc, isn't it going to add a bit of lag as you are trying to turn around pressurised air that is heading out of the air filter? Or is it insignificant as the pull of the Turbo is too powerful?
