Default Radiator leak

Hi all
I've just bought my WRX (52 bugeye) and the garage were honest enough to admit that there is a hairline crack in the top of the radiator. They could have just wiped off the residue and not told me but at least they were honest. They applied some mastic / radiator repair gunk to the outside which survived the drive back home.

The leak was apparently only under high revs.

I'm pretty sure I know the answer but is this a case of a new radiator (the dealer also gave me money off on top of my haggling!), a shot of radweld or is it repairable? My concern is I don't want any repair / radweld to fail under load on something like a cruise or on the motorway.

Second small question and I've seen it asked many times. What is the best coolant for an 52 WRX?

Thanks all
Dave

For the price of a new rad just buy a new one in. Its not a hard job to swap out either.

Thanks.
I'm waiting to hear back from Sheffield Subaru Services for a price for a new Rad. Although I can do basic work on cars I'm not sure I trust myself delving into the Scoobs engine bay!

For what it would cost and piece of mind, drop it back to them to do it. That's what I'd do.

Then it's all done, warranted etc etc.
