I have a 98 import sti/ s-reg version5
And I have lost the keys,yes what a donkey I am.

Is it a straight forward key & barrel change out,or does my import have a transponder unit wired to th ecu. I haven't broke into it yet to check round my barrel for a transponder unit,looking for advice first.

Any info welcome

i did this on my hawkeye was a nightmare getting in as deadlocked,had to smash th window,however i no there are guys who come out and gain entry and also cut anotrher key for it, not sure if they do classics though, depending on whether your key has buttons that lock/unlock and sets the alarm is whether you'll have a transponder but i may be wrong.good luck as i went to subaru and they quoted me 1200 to sort out.

Yes mat a pain in th hoop so it is.
As for getting into it and getting th locks and barrel changed over that's no bother.
It's just finding out if it has a transponder or not,being an early V5.

Just want th right barrel before getting into the car if you know what I mean.

Might be wrong, but, fairly sure none of the JDM cars come with factory alarm/immobilisers.

Thanks again guys,got a blank key from subaru,need to try get it cut to fit now,if that can't be done,my mate has locks and barrel waiting for me.
What a carry on,wont be going through this a second time...
