Default engine help

hi all

need some advise i have a 54 plate wrx impreza

got the general scooby bottom end knock been told a £1000 to build it.

or a second hand engine

will the engine out the classic fit still an ej20 turbo

been told i may have to change a cam pully :/

any help id be veru greatfull

I'd say you'd have to put your heads and stuff on to a classic block if that's the route you wanted to take. As far as I know, the heads were the only things that changed as time went on.

To be honest, for the cost and effort you might as well rebuild your engine with decent parts and that way it'll be stronger and safer.

Engine out of a clissic will fit no problem mate, depends on how old the classic engine is you are looking for something older than a 99 before that the heads were different inlet manifolds hope this helps

i think mine has had an engine change already at some point.

in too minds of what to do here now.

didnt realise they chaged the heads and that :/

Swapping the heads over isn't a huge job but will require new gaskets and a skim of course. Classic V1/2 are different to a V3/4 and I think they are different again to V5/6 and so on. Just swap your heads over mate or else try to get an engine for your specific version.

Yeah i may try and fine one out of a bug eye but not many out there under 1k so may just have mine done and then theres peice of mind i suppose thank youvery much matey

Hi mate it was from a place local to me the quote was 1000 pound and that was a full rebuild and take engine out and replace again
