Hi all I'm having my 03 blob mapped on Monday just to run better with the few mods already on
Already fitted
Sti tmic , k&n panel filter , part decat , walbro fuel pump
I'm keeping it this way for a bit as wife is going to be driving it to for a bit but once she has her car I want to get the blob upto about 330bhp
So I'm thinking I need some grade 7 ngk spark plugs
3 port boost sol
Full decat
But I'm a bit lost on what turbo is best for the blob I have a vf23 but being told by friends that's more for the classic
Anyone have any views on a good turbo for the blob and anything else I might need
Many thanks

The best turbo for that sort of power would be a vf34 if you can get one or the more common vf35 which is the standard turbo on a Sti, with everything else you have fitted you should see between 300-340 bhp. Also then I would consider upgrading the brakes to brembos or similar.

vf35 is easiest to get hold of, vf34 will give same spool but a bit more top end but as said hard to find second hand, the an sc36 will give better spool and top end but very hard to find second hand.

I've just gone from 260bhp with a TD04 to 320bhp with a TDO5 and I think around twisty country roads the former TD04 version of the car would kill the TD05 car. On the drag strip the TD04 offered nothing after 70mph. I can't wait to see what the TD05 can offer.
In hindsight though I kinda wish I'd jut tried to get 300bhp with the TD04 for something pretty special on the road.

Not really like the sound of the td05 and to be honest what I have read about the td04 it maxes out about 280bhp I think vf34-35 sounds like best option thanks guys I got a few months before the turbo change so just keep on the look out for a vf34 and if all else fails then vf35

Just to throw my bit in, my car had been making 298 on its little td04 before I got it. Then the big ends died and was rebuilt. Now running just shy of 260. I have ESL installed now, I'll be going for the most I can out of the TD04 because the spool is unreal.

remember you will need sti pink injectors at least and ngk-pfr7b plugs aswell, may aswell chuck an sti inlet manifold on aswell and get the mapper to turn off the tgv's
plugs-£40
injectors-£100 ish
sti inlet manifold in red -£60 ish

I think sti pinks are newage mate so topfeed if I'm right not sidefeed like the classics so I think the yellow 440's will be fine and good for 330-340 bhp, and yes the td04 is exchange so give him urs and u will receive a hybrid, play in the shaft won't matter because he refurbs them and makes them hybrid. :-)

I got my car set up again by Andy Forest again on Friday following an engine change. Very happy for a 04 blob WRX. 390 Bhp and 400 lbft of torque. Car is running a 2.5 ( EJ 25 ) bottom end matched to 2.0 wrx heads. Owen Developments turbo, Sti Pinks, FMIC, cold air intake in inner wing.
Hope all goes well for you.

what version of td05 though? shouldn't find any trouble keeping it on boost unless yoru changing gear way way too early.
