Default Will it make a difference?

Morning all,

I recently got my car mapped with a standard air box (with high flow panel)... I would like to change it to an aftermarket "induction kit" for lack of a better name that I already have, Not for power gains I just feel like the car is too quiet for me with the standard box on, I like a bit of "Compressor Stall" (Lets not open the what its actually called debate) noise on deacceleration and sucking noise on acceleration.

Just wondering if I change it will it NEED remapping?

Cheers all
Sam

I'd definitely get it remapped, worth it imo to avoid any potential problems down the line.

I would personally stick with the air box unless your running big power, they seem to cause more problems than have benefits. But if really want to fit it I would get it tweaked on the dyno.

Cheers for the advice guys, looks like I will need it tweaked... My mapper doesnt have a Dyno, however I was looking to go to a dyno soon anyway just to see what sort of power the car has, Am I right in thinking though that only the person that originally mapped the car can access/tweak the map?

Cheers

Not necessarily, but it would be cheaper, especially if you paid for the ecutek licence with that mapper, thats where the money goes , after that he should just charge you for the time on the dyno for further tweeks.

So if I went to somebody else for a tweak they would have to pay for the licence again?

No, the license follows the ECU.

However, the maps are encrypted, I believe, so that only the mapper who originally produced the map can open it up and change it. I.e. if you take it to a new mapper, they'd have to start from scratch.
