Default 2.5 crank differences....

looking at buying a 2.5 crank for my 2,1 stroker project but am slightly confused about the specs

as far as i was aware the 2.5 crank was nitrided then superceded by these heat treated ones like this but are not cross drilled

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1211917678...d=531074677972

now i have just seen this type of crank

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Imp...item565ae564e9

so can anybody clear it up for me,which crank is the best and what years were they cross drilled?

cheers

id get specialist advice as to what you need as if you just buy stuff from ebay without really knowing what you want is going to end in an expensive mistake.

They are exactly the same bar the hardening process, have used both at big power and new heat treated seems just as good as nitrided.

The crank shown in your first link to the US seller is a nitrided and cross drilled crank - you can see the cross drilling on the main bearing journals.
The second link to WMS on ebay shows the later induction hardened ( not nitrided ) crank which is not cross drilled - bit of an error in the listing there.
Either way, they are both good cranks with the nitrided one's being phased out by subaru and being replaced by the induction hardened item.

The crank in the first link doesn't come like that, it looks like the 2nd induction hardened type which adds to the confusion, error on the photo, I know as I have bought quite a few of these.

shown in my photo.

Can't see any difference between old and new versions in design? Can you show me!

Neither are.
Cross drilled mains are at a 90 degree spacing.

Cross lines... New heat treated crank is same design as old, picture in advert is of a 2.0 JDM crank that's cross drilled?
