Default Safe boost

Hi guys, bought my first impreza yesterday, on driving home I noticed under full throttle the boost gauge was hitting 2bar! Now after some searching online I've noticed a few people saying 1.1 bar or 1.2 bar is the maximum.

The car is fitted with a TD 05 turbo and I have a spare td04 turbo. It's been remapped and has full SS exhaust system on it.

The previous owner has fitted a manual boost controller to it, just wanting to know what u should set the boot to so it runs nice and safe.

Thanks

See

Hiya,

At a guess I'd say the remap could be part of this, do you know who mapped it and can you contact them to see if the map was set for this level of boost?

I have no clue who remapped it the car has a different ecu fitted to it also. When the car is hitting 2 bar it's juddering like it's trying to cut the power or something. I have lowered the boost to 1.2 bar in the meantime feels much better at full throttle no juddering now. What do standard td05's usually run at?

If it judders your hitting fuel cut off, I'm guessing you have one of those dangerous manual boost controllers?

If the car has been remapped why has someone fit a manual boost controller ?
Id take the manual controller off and see what the crack is,
Find out who has mapped it if you can, maybe pm a few mappers on here with the previous owners name and the car reg, you may get lucky.

I'm not sure why it's been fitted, like is say this is my first impreza and I'm not too sure about the in's and outs of them yet. Ill phone a few places local see if they have any record of the car being done.

On another note. I've found the broken speed sensor in the engine bay looks like someone
Has filled the hole on the side of the gearbox with some kind of black gunk to stop the oil comeing out the hole. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a replacement sensor for V reg turbo 2000 uk model

Have had a search in google but can't seem to locate the same sensor

Manual boost works for the short term, but fueling etc will be way off, remove it and get map mate before you kill the engine
