Not sure the VF turbo blades can cope with the stress.........Mitsubishi TD series appear to be tougher and can run without a dump valve. Maybe an urban myth but if I were you I'd dig deeper.

vf is fine a ran dv less on my vf35 for a while.
i found it was much more laggy especially between gears.
the recirc is the best running a near standard set up like above.
