Default think I may of destroyed my engine! :-(

Had the car apart for a few days and had intercooler pipes off so covered them with rags.. obviously with the rain that didnt help. The water seeped through. Started the car and was running fine as fitted new exhaust system. Then gave the car a few revs all was fine then the car cut out and could not start it again. So took off the pipes and found a load of water sitting by the throttle body by the butterfly.. so got all that water out. All out of the intercooler as well. Which was a shed load. Took out the plugs, cleaned them disconnected the injectors and crank position sensor and turned the car over. It started first time and runs fine. Took off the center section and got rid of the water in there as well and took the car for a gentle drive no more than 5 miles.. seems fine and runs fine. I have ordered new oil and a oil filter and will now not drive the car until I have changed them.

Is there anything else I need to do? And have I ruined my engine?

if water gets in the cylinders it doesnt compress like fuel so can cause damage i.e. bent con rod etc.
the fact yours is running now dried out id say its ok, but time will tell

You say it's now running fine so i doubt any damage has been done. I think you would know if you had done any damage due to a hydrolic lock in the cylinders.

If its running without issue then its likely to be ok. If it had bent a rod you'd know pretty quickly.

new oil and filter and then i'd drive it without any boost for a good 30mins to totally dry and evap any water.

Runs fine to me. Didnt boost the car really and ticks over on idle on its own fine with usual piston slap which I have always had with the forged engine. Is there anything else I need to check or possibly change?

Sounds to me like you will be fine. Don't be surprised if or when you get steam coming out the tail pipe though I've seen more than one worried look over the years after a head gasket has been fixed.

Hi, had the same happen to me a while back, been fine since, can't see a problem as the water was limited and not a constant flow/supply, that would have been an issue as the engine would have to compress water constantly thus damaging the con rods and others, and you will get some steam as a result of water contamination, anyway sounds you'er ok. Good Luck.
