Cdb with head gasket blown
My mate has offered me his cdb with head gasket blown what would I need to do to bring it back to its prime.. Bargain price but I need to know what it will cost to fix before committing.

well, obviously a new head gasket, will need to check if block and heads are warped and have skimmed as required and suitable thickness head gasket.
i dont know if the head studs/nuts are reusable so may need those.
if it needs a skim tho then its an engine strip down job, so might as well fit new bearings, hone bores, new rings etc.
depending on its intended use ie powerwise, forged pistons, steel rods etc etc...
the list can get very big.
if your just going to fit it as a standard replacement then just get the HG done

Apparently some say that if the head gasket goes on a subaru just doing the head is a false economy, as when the water mixes with the oil it causes bottom end bearing damage and it's only a matter of time before the big ends let go, which will result in another £2/3k bill very soon after.
It would need to be a very special car at an extremely low price for me to get involved with it and I can do everything myself, if you need to pay someone to do it then I doubt it would be worth it, hence your "mate" palming it off on to you.
