Default Engine running lumpy

I'm new to the Scooby world. I recently acquired a 2000 turbo. When idling the engine is a bit lumpy and doesn't run very evenly. Just want to know if there are any obvious things to look for before I hand it over to a garage to check the timing. Any help would be appreciated

MAF, get it checked or swap it out with a known OK one.

Tip: the "trick" of unplugging it when running does nothing.

Cool I've just purchased a new genuine maf plus a new un-oiled air filter. Cheers for the advice
