As long as you are buying a complete engine including wiring looms, ecu, heads, turbo etc etc... Then no issues.

I'm pretty sure the turbo will be different for the sti engine. It has a VF range IHI turbo where the WRX might not, maybe a TD04/5? It might not go properly and definitely will need remapped!

as the vf 35 from the sti fits straight on to the wrx, likewise the wrx turbo would fit the sti.
The new set up would require mapping.

If your going to stick with the td04 then wouldn't it be cheaper to fit another wrx engine, as above an sti would be better in the long run if you plan to go for more power,

I've got a choice to make a wrx engine rebuild for £1800 with a warranty on engine or a jdm sti engine being put in for the same money. What would you go for

I'd go for the jdm sti engine if you can get it to run for the same money.
